Post-Recession Reward
Thursday July 2nd 2009
We teamed up with Innecto Reward Consulting www.innectogroup.co.uk in order to host the inaugural Frazer Jones Reward Breakfast Seminar at our offices at 95 Queen Victoria Street.
Director of Consulting, Deborah Rees, delivered a comprehensive run through the effects the recession has had on many organisations’ Reward policies over the last twelve months or so and then went on to highlight what needs to be considered in relation to the Reward agenda as we prepare for, and go through, recovery.
A copy of Deborah’s slides are available which show in more detail the areas covered. Following the presentation Deborah and her team facilitated some break out discussions amongst the attendees on a variety of subjects, the most hotly debated being what the effect of the recession will be, long-term, on bonus payments that have been so significant in the past.
One of the headlines to come out of the discussion was that some of the innovative solutions that have been initiated, such as reduced hours and sabbaticals etc, have been very well received by some work forces and as such employers need to be aware that removing these arrangements when recovery comes could in fact cause the same problems that those very solutions were put in place to avoid.
So have we been forced to make permanent changes to the employment contract following a temporary change in the global economy? Maybe so, and only time will tell, but that is very possibly no bad thing at all!
