HR Director

Our client is the UK’s largest privately owned global freight operator, by rail, road, sea and air.  The business is entering an exciting period of rapid expansion and consequently requires a senior HR professional. As the company’s first HR Director you will ensure that the company attracts and retains a passionate workforce which will ensure that the business is able to constantly evolve. 

The initial brief will be to audit the existing function, and then establish a new operational HR department, gradually installing your own team.  You will report into and work very closely with the board of directors, contributing to the business at a strategic level.  In particular you will be involved in a number of potential business acquisitions. 

You will be an HR professional with a strong commercial acumen and a solid understanding of entrepreneurial flair.  Ideally you will have worked in an owner managed business and have a grasp of how managing key relationships will effect your ability to be successful. 

The business is changing rapidly and you will need a pragmatic and flexible approach as a crucial player in future development of the organisation.
