On the 28th June, Ben Wood, who heads up our Financial Services practice, hosted our most recent HR Director round table event. This was well attended by a number of HR Directors, all of who work for a range of buyside firms across the Financial Services sector.
This particular group has been running for over 4 years now and, on this occasion, was held in The Wimborne Room at The Ritz, Piccadilly. Chaired by Ben Wood - who established the network - the group gathered for a round table discussion held over breakfast. Previous sessions have always followed a similar format; the aim of which has been to discuss a range of suggested topics impacting HR functions and organisations across the sector. This particular session demonstrated the commercial evolution on the format of the group and we were delighted to welcome Phil Howell (former CEO for ED&F Man).
All participants came to the session prepared with the top ten significant priorities they are facing within their own respective firms. These views were then compared to those of Phil’s, who was able to offer his opinion of what CEO/board level employees deem as significant. This updated format provided thought-provoking discussions and offered a truly commercial slant to all conversations. All participants felt it provided a strong opportunity to offer real-life commercial examples on challenges and opportunities they face within their roles. Given the success of the session, we will look to further develop the group, continuing to combine both HR Directors and C-suite representation.
