Introducing the New Year 2021

Januar 30, 2021

First of all, I wish you a good start to a healthy and successful New Year 2021!

The economic signs for 2021 are promising, and due to current developments, a stabilisation is to be expected in the course of the year. Despite the current record levels of the DAX, MDAX and SDAX, the economy in the coming months will certainly continue to be shaped by an expansion of the lockdown and the progress of the vaccination strategy and the effects of Brexit before sustainable stability sets in. But even after the economy has stabilised and recovered, or precisely because of this, topics such as flexibilizationi of work and digitization will certainly accompany us throughout the rest of the year.

For this purpose, we would like to give you the opportunity in our virtual roundtables to exchange ideas with HR managers from your industry on these and other topics and to share best practices.

Upcoming events

Furthermore, I would like to draw your attention to our series of events on the topic of Inclusion & Diversity. You can watch our kick-off event here

Our next Inclusion & Diversity event will take place on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 at 11:00 am on the topic of Empowering Female Leaders. It will be a fascinating panel discussion about how organisations can better recruit and retain female leaders. Please keep an eye on our LinkedIn for further details regarding our events, but if you’re interested in joining our next Inclusion & Diversity event, you can already sign up here

I would also like to draw your attention to a project by the Expats & Spouses Monitor regarding the life, experiences and challenges of expatriates and their spouses in Germany.

If you or your spouse are an expatriate living in Germany, I would like to encourage you to participate: https://www.expatsmonitor.de/as-an-expat/ (Please note that this survey is run by a third party rather than Frazer Jones and is subject to their privacy policy.) You can find more information about the project on their website

Finally, I would like to share with you an outlook for recruiting in 2021. In the past year, recruiting in most companies went significantly differently than planned and has been completely suspended in many cases. Feedback from the market shows that for this reason, the need for hiring is all the greater this year. Currently, searches in the HR area focus particularly on Business Partnering (mostly with a strong change management component), Compensation & Benefits, Payroll and Talent Management. To be able to keep up after the reorganisation of and major changes in the market, companies now have to act quickly so as not to be left behind in terms of employer attractiveness. The areas of Talent Management and Compensation & Benefits make a significant contribution to developing attractive conditions for the workforce in a new and more digitised world of work. A professional and high-quality change support, as well as the smooth administrative implementation, serve as enablers, which explains the focus on the corresponding roles.

The candidate market is typically particularly active at this time of year. The months of January to March are therefore a particularly good time to attract new talent. We are also observing a significant increase in the demand for temporary workers – both in the interim area and in temporary employment. If you need support in finding suitable HR professionals, please contact us, we will be happy to advise you.

We look forward to an exciting 2021 with you!
