Cambridge, Hybrid 2 – 3 days a week
This is an exciting opportunity to set up the ER function which will support all escalated case work across this organisation of 12000 employees.
Due to an organisational design, and due additional funding, this is a new role, you will set up and build an Employee Relations team, working on escalated cases including complex and up to ET. This is an exciting opportunity to really add value and make a difference to the organisation
Based in Cambridge on a hybrid model, initially you’ll be in the office a bit more, but then approx. 2 – 3 days a week. The company has a very flexible working module and is very accommodating to individual requirements.
DUTIES
- Building an ER function that supports a wide range of employees from Head office functions through to operational workers, highly skilled to casual workers
- You will be an integral part of the organisation, building strong relationships partnering with senior stakeholders across all business areas
- Leading your team, you will ensure workload is evenly distributed, actioned and monitored to internal SLAs, producing MI and analytics to further look at trends across ER
- Being hands on, you will lead on complex cases and be the point of escalation, work with senior investigators and inhouse lawyers
- Navigate across governance and complex law, be a strong influencer and work closely with multiple stakeholder
- Create the strategy to further develop the function including process, delivery and future development
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A strong ER and employment law background, you will have extensive knowledge and experience with employment tribunals, settlements and complex cases
- Experience of leading an ER team, creating and managing process and driving productivity
- Be able to understand governance and law and navigate a complex organisation with many processes
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience from any sector, but ideally from a complex, government, education or similar public sector environment, experience of trade unions desirable.
