Our client is an internationally operating manufacturing company with several thousand employees worldwide. To develop, unify and maintain the QHSE company standards across 12 sites located in Europe, China and India they are currently looking to hire an experienced

Director Health & Safety (m/f/d)

The position holder will work closely with the Management Teams and the HSE Representatives of individual sites to elevate safety and quality culture in the organization through coordination, communication and leadership.

Tasks:

  • Provide HSE leadership and support to Management Teams in the respective entities in accordance with the Corporate guidelines
  • Drive unification of QHSE Systems across the region
  • Provide technical support to Senior Management on any quality, safety and environmental related subjects
  • Manage and implement policies to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses or exposure to health hazards
  • Take part in accident / incident investigation, carry out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans
  • Conduct safety audits both internal and external
  • Carry out in-house safety trainings for individual QHSE representatives and also directly for Company personnel
  • Support individual affiliates in maintaining quality accreditations for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001, ensuring periodic audits are scheduled to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Act as the Quality representative for sites that do not have their own full time employee assuming this role
  • Ensure high quality products and manufacturing processes are developed and consistently employed
  • Manage the environmental policy

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in QHSE Management Systems
  • Proven experience working in a Safety and Quality management role in manufacturing industries
  • Successful track record of working with the HSE, auditors and professional bodies
  • Ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels
  • To have developed and run a system such as ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001 through accredited bodies
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, have a personable nature with effective and clear communication skills
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • Hands on experience in similar former role
  • Excellent command of German and English
  • Willingness to travel across Germany and Internationally
