We have a current General Manager opportunity for a leading freight transportation organisation in Essex.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction is consistently achieved across your sites. You will work closely with the wider team on the commercial development of the account.

Responsibilities include:

o Management of the budget / headcount in conjunction with the Account Director.

o Selection and recruitment as appropriate.

o Conduct Discipline and grievance hearings in line with Company policy and procedures including local trade union pay negotiations.

o Individual performance management and development of direct reports

* Ensure that revenue, cost and margin meet or exceed agreed budgets and forecasts in both £ and % terms, within areas of responsibility

* Liaise with Finance Manager in the financial budget process.

* Maximise contract performance and identify opportunities for 3rd party growth.

* Ensure services to our customer exceed their expectations and our company standards as defined within agreed contracts. Ensure KPI targets are monitored and developed.

* Develop an effective working partnership with our customer through trust, openness and mutual respect.

* Identify opportunities to add further value for the customer

* Manage absence, performance and succession planning. Develop talent at all levels.

* Be visible and available to all levels of colleagues to develop site relationships.

* Lead by example, provide mentoring, guidance and coaching to the shift managers.

* Engagement, talent and succession planning.

* Manage Site level Trade Union relations.

* Ensure all aspects of H&S legislation and standards are adhered to at all times.
