Our client, a leading Australian law firm, is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join the Melbourne team. As an HR Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in supporting the firms employees and the overall success by providing strategic HR guidance and expertise. You will collaborate closely with the firm’s leadership and various stakeholders to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with our business goals.

This is a newly created role based in Melbourne and responsible for partnering with a number of practice groups and will be the first point of contact for People & HR related issues that arise locally in the Melbourne office. Working closely with the P&D Director and the wider P&D team, this role will evolve as time goes on and your time will be split between coaching, partnering, delivery and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide dedicated guidance and coaching to people leaders and employees with a focus on employee advocacy/engagement, wellbeing and retention.
  • Confidently lead and guide managers through the performance and employee relations activities including performance improvement plans and talent development initiatives where needed.
  • Assess any training needs within the client group and collaborate internally to deliver relevant content or courses.
  • Assisting with the annual salary review processes.
  • Stay up to date with local employment laws and regulations, ensuring the firm’s HR policies, procedures, and practices are compliant.
  • Develop strong and influential relationships within the Partners, Office Managers and the HR team to understand best practice for the firm and influence future development of the culture and practices.
  • Assist with resource management. including staff planning and working with Talent Acquisition teams when recruiting all role for the related office and practice groups

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner in a similar environment, preferably a law firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work face to face, 4 days in the Melbourne office: Collins St, Melbourne.
