Pensions & Benefits Specialist
About the Role
I’m currently partnering with a leading organisation to appoint a talented Pension & Benefits Specialist who will take ownership of UK pensions end‑to‑end while overseeing the smooth delivery of a broad suite of UK employee benefits.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong UK pensions expertise who enjoys accountability, technical depth, and being recognised as the subject‑matter expert – supported by a structured, process‑driven benefits remit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full Ownership of UK Pensions (Core Focus)
- Lead responsibility for the UK Defined Contribution (DC) pension scheme.
- Act as the UK pensions SME with deep technical and legislative knowledge.
- Oversee all governance and compliance, including statutory filings, deadlines, Chair Statements and SIP.
- Manage complex member queries, monthly contribution checks, and trustee‑related processes.
- Ensure full Auto‑Enrolment compliance and timely delivery of regulatory requirements.
- Lead pension communications that improve member understanding and engagement.
- Provide support for international schemes (Singapore, Egypt, Japan).
2. Benefits Administration (Operational & Process‑Led)
- Manage a suite of UK benefits (medical, life assurance, wellbeing, gym etc.).
- Deliver day‑to‑day processing: starters, leavers, changes, invoicing, underwriting, reconciliations.
- Partner closely with HR, Payroll and HRIS to ensure smooth delivery of benefits operations.
- Maintain accurate benefits documentation and ensure audit readiness.
- Support global renewals and benefits activity across a Global remit.
3. Governance, Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure all statutory disclosures, returns and regulatory deadlines are met.
- Support annual audit requirements and maintain compliant documentation processes.
4. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Deliver clear, engaging pensions and benefits communications.
- Present data and updates effectively to senior stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships across HR, Finance, global HR teams and external vendors.
5. Technical & Personal Attributes
Technical Requirements:
- Strong UK pensions expertise, particularly DC schemes and UK legislation.
- Benefits administration knowledge across multiple benefit types.
- Highly analytical with strong Excel skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Confident working in a fast‑paced corporate/professional services environment.
