This is a highly visible role where you will influence workforce strategy, champion a high-performance culture, and lead a capable HR team to deliver best-in-class HR services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll operate at both a strategic and hands-on level-translating data-driven insights into meaningful action and leading on key people priorities across the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Key areas of focus include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing and delivering <strong>strategic HR plans<\/strong> aligned to operational goals<\/li>\n<li>Using <strong>people analytics and insights<\/strong> to inform decision-making and improve performance<\/li>\n<li>Leading <strong>talent and succession planning<\/strong>, organisational design, and change initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Driving a strong <strong>performance and development culture<\/strong>, with clear objectives and continuous feedback<\/li>\n<li>Acting as a senior advisor on <strong>employee relations<\/strong>, including complex casework and union engagement<\/li>\n<li>Supporting <strong>pay and reward discussions<\/strong>, ensuring competitive and fair outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and leading on policy development<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing a multi-disciplinary <strong>HR team<\/strong>, ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery<\/li>\n<li>Promoting <strong>diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing<\/strong> across the workforce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About You<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are a confident, credible HR leader who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments where no two days are the same. Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, you know how to balance long-term people planning with the realities of a <strong>complex, unionised workforce.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Naturally collaborative, you build trust quickly with senior stakeholders and are seen as a <strong>go-to adviser<\/strong>-someone who can challenge constructively, influence decisions, and bring clarity to complex people matters. You&#8217;re equally at ease in the boardroom as you are on the ground, engaging with frontline teams and understanding what truly drives performance.<\/p>\n<p>You take a <strong>commercial, data-led approach<\/strong>, using insight to inform decisions rather than instinct alone. Whether shaping workforce strategy, resolving employee relations challenges, or leading organisational change, you bring a calm, solutions-focused mindset and a strong sense of accountability.<\/p>\n<p>Resilient and adaptable, you&#8217;re motivated by making a tangible difference-driving a high-performance culture, improving employee experience, and enabling leaders to do their best work. You also take pride in developing others, fostering capability within your team and leaving a lasting impact on the wider organisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will bring:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Significant HR leadership experience, ideally within a <strong>transport, logistics, or similarly operational sector.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A proven track record as a <strong>HR leader, driving and building teams to deliver operational success. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Strong experience of <strong>employee relations<\/strong>, including union engagement and complex case management.
