Title: Associate Director, People Operations (Temporary)

Location: New York, NY 10007

Schedule: Hybrid, 3-4 days per week

Pay Rate: Negotiable

Duration: 6-9 months

Start Date: Early August

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly organized and proactive Associate Director, People Operations, to help elevate their employee experience and streamline core HR processes. In this role, you’ll be a key partner to employees and managers, supporting everything from onboarding and internal mobility to compliance, reporting, and offboarding. You’ll also play a critical role in managing HR systems and ensuring smooth collaboration across departments.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and optimize HRIS platforms (UKG Ready, Deel), ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies
  • Support audits and generate reports as needed
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding to ensure a seamless employee experience
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, and Security to coordinate new hire setups and terminations
  • Manage internal changes like promotions, transfers, and compensation updates
  • Help document and communicate HR policies and procedures
  • Serve as a go-to resource for employee questions around policies, benefits, and systems
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure timely processing of bonuses, awards, and severance
  • Collaborate with international HR teams and vendors to ensure global consistency and compliance
  • Manage immigration cases in partnership with outside counsel

What We’re Looking For

  • 6-8 years of experience in People Operations
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws
  • High integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong data management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team
  • Enjoys being in-office and working closely with teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in a company with 500+ global employees
  • Deep knowledge of UKG Ready and how to leverage it for operations, reporting, and compliance
