HR Director
My client is an award-winning multi-academy trust looking to appoint HR Director to lead the HR function through exciting growth and transformation. Reporting to the COO you will partner with them to deliver the people elements of a new organisational operating model.
They are seeking an exceptional HR Director to join the executive leadership team of the organisation and deliver a HR strategy that align to the continued success of the academy trust.
About the Role:
As a senior HR professional you will be working to build a HR strategy that works with the Executive and Leaderships teams to ensure excellent people processes, employee engagement and efficient HR services are delivered. You will manage a central HR team of c50 people including Heads of Service, HRBPs, Talent, Payroll, and HR Operations. This role is both strategic and operational so the capability to work with autonomy and build credible stakeholder relationships quickly is integral.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of a people strategy across the full employee lifecycle.
- Drive organisational development, employee engagement, and leadership capability.
- Oversee complex ER cases, TUPE transitions, and union relationships.
- Champion DEI, wellbeing, and reward strategies to position the organisation as an employer of choice.
About you:
As a senior HR professional you will have either been working as a HR Director or Head of HR role within an organisation with a minimum headcount of over 3000 across a multi-site operational model, you will have operated at scale and reported to C-Suite previously with full accountability of the HR strategy. You can demonstrate how you have led multi-disciplinary HR teams through strategic change and growth. Below are the key criteria’s to be successful in this role:
- Extensive HR Director-level experience in large organisations (min. 3,000 headcount).
- A track record of leading large HR teams and delivering strategic transformation.
- Expertise in employee relations, organisational design, talent development, and DEI.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in union engagement, TUPE, and HRIS implementation is highly desirable.
- Education sector experience is not essential however working in a multi-site and unionised environment is.

Salary: £140,000 – £150,000 + bonus and benefits
Location: South London, Hybrid working 3 days in office.
