Title: Temporary Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist

Location: Houston, TX – Hybrid

Duration: 6-months, Maternity Leave

Compensation: Negotiable

About the Role

The Learning & Development professional will support the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and overall organizational capability. This role partners closely with HR, business leaders, and subject matter experts to identify learning needs and implement scalable development solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Training Design & Delivery

  • Assist in the creation, design, and implementation of learning programs, trainings, workshops, and development initiatives.
  • Facilitate in‑person and virtual training sessions using engaging, interactive learning methods.
  • Develop instructional materials, such as facilitator guides, job aids, e‑learning modules, and participant workbooks.

Learning Needs Assessment

  • Partner with business leaders and HR to identify learning gaps and development needs across teams.
  • Conduct surveys, interviews, skills assessments, and focus groups to gather insights.
  • Recommend appropriate learning solutions aligned with business goals.

Program Management

  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, communication, enrollment, and technology setup.
  • Manage and maintain learning calendars, attendance records, learning assignments, and reporting.
  • Oversee external vendors or training partners when necessary.

Learning Systems & Technology

  • Maintain LMS (Learning Management System) content, user data, assignments, and reporting dashboards.
  • Upload trainings, track completion, troubleshoot user issues, and recommend system improvements.
  • Leverage digital tools to support a blended learning experience (e‑learning, micro‑learning, webinars, etc.).

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Measure training effectiveness through surveys, engagement metrics, assessments, and performance indicators.
  • Track and report learning insights, program impact, and participation trends to leadership.
  • Continuously refine and enhance programs based on feedback and performance outcomes.

Organizational Development Support

  • Support onboarding programs and new‑hire training initiatives.
  • Assist with leadership development, career pathways, competency modeling, or performance management processes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning through communication campaigns and employee engagement activities.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Recruitment experience
  • 1-5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, HR, or similar role (level dependent).
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Experience designing or delivering training programs (in‑person or virtual).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
