Role Overview

The Global Head of Payroll is responsible for leading, designing, and executing the company’s global payroll strategy across all regions. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while driving standardization, automation, and operational excellence across multiple jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep global payroll expertise, strong regulatory knowledge, and a proven ability to manage complex, multi-country payroll operations at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Global Payroll Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a global payroll strategy aligned with business growth and expansion plan
  • Lead and mentor a distributed payroll team across multiple region
  • Establish global governance, operating models, and best practice
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and Tax to ensure alignment and integration

Payroll Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll delivery across all countries and entity
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salaries, bonuses, equity, and benefit
  • Manage payroll calendars, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and service delivery

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across all jurisdictions
  • Monitor and manage regulatory changes impacting payroll operations
  • Mitigate risks related to payroll errors, audits, and penalty
  • Oversee internal and external payroll audits

Systems & Transformations

  • Lead payroll technology strategy, including system selection, implementation, and optimization
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives (e.g., payroll platforms, integrations, AI tools)
  • Ensure seamless integration with HRIS, finance systems, and time tracking solutions
  • Manage global payroll vendors and outsourcing

Data, Reporting & Analysis

  • Provide payroll insights and reporting to executive leadership
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and confidentiality
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to measure payroll performance and efficiency

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the global payroll subject matter expert for executive leadership
  • Partner with regional HR and Finance leaders to address local needs
  • Support M&A activity, including due diligence and payroll integration

Qualifications

  • Required10-15+ years of payroll experience, including significant global leadership
  • Proven experience managing payroll across multiple countries/region
  • Deep knowledge of global payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance
  • Experience leading large, distributed teams and managing
  • Strong background in payroll systems
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll transformation
