Summary
A leading law firm is seeking a Lateral Legal Recruiting Manager to support the full life-cycle of lateral attorney recruitment, with a focus on special counsel and associate-level hires across all practice areas. This role will contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in legal recruiting and collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage lateral hiring activities, including agency coordination, interview scheduling, onboarding, and integration
- Monitor market trends and suggest improvements to hiring practices
- Maintain strong relationships with external recruiters and search firms
- Analyze hiring and attrition data; prepare reports for leadership
- Collaborate with partners to assess practice group needs and share candidate profiles
- Support the Visiting Lawyers Program, including interview coordination and participation in LL.M. job fairs
- Organize meetings between partners and agencies to support recruitment initiatives
- Oversee vendor relationships, including recruiting technologies
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth onboarding and resource allocation
- Maintain and manage the recruiting events calendar
- Train and mentor junior recruiting staff
- Provide support to non-NY offices and assist with partner-level recruitment as needed
- Participate in special projects across Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Diversity initiatives
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and information security standards

- Strong supervisory and coaching abilities
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 7 years of recruiting experience, preferably within a law firm or legal environment
Compensation
- Base salary range: $160,000 – $180,000, depending on experience, skills, and location
- Total compensation may include overtime, discretionary bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package
