Head of Human Resources

About the Company

Our client is a tech-forward, established yet rapidly scaling financial services firm at an exciting stage of growth. With a strong foundation in place, the organization is now investing in building a best-in-class people function to support its next phase of expansion.

About the role

The firm is seeking its Head of Human Resources to build and lead a strategic HR function. This newly created role will be instrumental in shaping the firm’s talent strategy, infrastructure, and culture as the organization scales. You will manage one senior individual contributor, and report into the C suite.

This is a highly visible leadership position for an innovative and people-centric HR executive who thrives in growth environments. The SVP will partner closely with senior leadership to embed best-in-class HR practices across the full employee lifecycle-from talent attraction and onboarding through development, retention, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build & Lead the HR Function: Establish and scale a high-impact HR platform aligned with business growth objectives
  • Strategic Talent Leadership: Design and execute strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and workforce planning
  • Employer Branding: Strengthen the firm’s market presence as an employer of choice
  • Talent Management & Development: Implement frameworks for performance management, leadership development, and succession planning
  • HR Infrastructure & Systems: Introduce scalable processes, policies, and technologies to support a growing organization
  • Executive Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor and problem solver to senior leadership on organizational and people-related matters
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor existing HR resources while building out the team as needed
  • Culture & Engagement: Foster a strong, inclusive, and performance-driven culture as the company scales

Required Qualifications

  • ~18+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience in “head of” roles or managing a large section of the business
  • Demonstrated success building or scaling HR functions within smaller financial services organizations (e.g., scaling headcount from ~30-150, 80-200, etc.)
  • Direct experience in relevant financial services organizations, ideally asset management, is required**
  • Strong expertise across:
    • Talent acquisition strategy
    • Employer branding and culture building
    • Talent management & leadership development
    • Compensation, rewards, and HR systems
  • Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner to executive leadership
  • Experience managing and developing HR team members
  • Highly energetic, innovative, and hands-on leader with a pragmatic and principles first approach

This is a rare opportunity to enhance a functional HR platform with forward thinking near and long-term strategy within a steadily growing, progressive organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the firm’s future while working alongside a collaborative and ambitious leadership team.

Compensation: $250,000 base + significant annual cash incentive (commensurate with experience)

Location: East Coast, remote first

Travel: 4-5 times annually (as needed)
