Human Resources Director

Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin (On-Site, 5 Days Per Week)

Base Salary: $170,000 – $200,000 region + Bonus

We are exclusively retained by a well-established, family-owned global manufacturer to appoint a Human Resources Director for its U.S. operation in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.

Part of a larger international group with approximately $1B in revenue, the organization has built an exceptional reputation for employee engagement, workforce development, and creating a culture where people genuinely want to build long-term careers. With operations across Europe and North America, the business combines global scale with the agility, values, and long-term outlook of a privately held company.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and partnering closely with international HR leadership, this is a highly visible leadership role responsible for the people strategy of a manufacturing operation employing approximately 250-300 associates.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join an organization that is already recognized as a great place to work and help shape the next phase of its growth journey in North America. The successful candidate will lead a well-established HR function while partnering with senior leaders across the business to drive engagement, retention, succession planning, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and workforce strategy.

With significant investment and long-term growth ambitions in North America, the business offers the opportunity to contribute to future expansion initiatives, support broader global projects, and potentially play a role in future multi-site growth as the U.S. platform continues to evolve. This position offers a unique blend of strategic influence and operational leadership. The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor, a visible presence across the manufacturing operation, and an important partner to global HR leadership.

Key Priorities

  • Continue to strengthen and protect the organization’s outstanding culture and employee engagement.
  • Drive talent development, leadership capability, and succession planning across the business.
  • Build and maintain robust career development and training programs.
  • Partner with leadership on labor cost management, compensation strategy, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the attraction, development, and retention of both hourly and salaried talent.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team.
  • Foster strong employee relations and maintain a positive, non-union environment through proactive engagement and leadership.
  • Partner closely with global HR colleagues to ensure alignment with broader organizational objectives while meeting local business needs.
  • Lead and contribute to international HR initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain a highly visible presence on the manufacturing floor and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.

Ideal Background

We are seeking an HR leader who combines strong commercial acumen with authentic people leadership and a highly visible, hands-on approach.

Candidates should offer:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, packaging, or similarly operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of labor costs, compensation programs, workforce planning, and people analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in talent management, succession planning, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Strong employee relations expertise, ideally including exposure to union environments and union avoidance strategies.
  • Experience within a multinational or global organization.
  • The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a strong presence on the manufacturing floor.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced HR, business, or related qualifications preferred.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Highly visible leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director
  • Opportunity to partner closely with both U.S. and international leadership teams
  • Exposure to global HR projects and strategic business initiatives
  • Outstanding culture with strong employee engagement and retention
  • Family-owned values combined with the resources and stability of a successful global organization
  • Significant opportunity for future growth as the U.S. business continues to invest and expand
  • An opportunity to make a lasting impact on an organization that genuinely values its people
