Partner Training Manager
Legal Training Manager – New York
A leading international law firm is seeking a Legal Training Manager to join its New York office. This is a high-impact opportunity to support the firm’s continued investment in attorney and partner development across the U.S.
This role will focus on the design and delivery of innovative partner training initiatives, with an emphasis on leadership, business development, financial acumen, client service, and practice management-critical areas for success within a modern law firm environment.
Working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and executing programmes that align with strategic priorities and drive measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive partner training strategy aligned with firm objectives
- Develop and deliver high-impact programmes for newly promoted partners, lateral partners, and firm leadership
- Create engaging learning formats including workshops, simulations, coaching, and peer learning forums
- Conduct needs analysis using performance data, partner feedback, and business metrics
- Define and track KPIs, using insights to refine programmes and demonstrate impact
- Manage external vendors, facilitators, and executive coaches
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Professional Development, HR, and leadership teams
- Embed compliance, ethical, and risk considerations into training initiatives
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience in learning & development, leadership development, or talent management
- Background in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
- Proven experience delivering senior-level or executive training programmes
- Strong understanding of law firm economics and operations
- Expertise in adult learning, instructional design, and facilitation
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to shape training strategy
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive partner dynamics
Additional Information
- Location: New York
- Compensation: $160,000 – $180,000 base (flexible for the right candidate)
