Overview

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist manages the accurate and timely processing of payroll and supports the administration of employee benefit programs. This role ensures compliance, delivers exceptional employee service, and partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to maintain smooth, reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll processing and accuracy: Prepare, audit, and process regular and off‑cycle payrolls while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Benefits administration: Support day‑to‑day management of health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Employee support: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, deductions, and leave programs with clarity and professionalism.
  • Data integrity and reporting: Maintain HRIS and payroll data, run reports, and support audits, reconciliations, and compliance filings.
  • Vendor coordination: Work with carriers, brokers, and third‑party administrators to resolve issues and ensure accurate data exchange.
  • Compliance and documentation: Ensure adherence to regulations such as FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and internal policies.
  • Open enrollment support: Assist with planning, communication, system setup, and employee education during annual enrollment cycles.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance accuracy, and improve the employee experience.
