Past Progress
If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be and why?
It would be ‘Take it easy on yourself and those around you’. Being ambitious and striving for more are good qualities and they take you ahead of others. However, they can also lead to unnecessary stress if you don’t develop the wisdom to accept the unpredictable hurdles that life brings on. I guess at a younger age I was much more impatient, very critical and expected life to proceed exactly as I planned. Over the years I realised that life is far more complicated with lots of surprises and learned to be kinder to myself. In the end what really matters is how we find our way through challenging times, stay strong and positive for ourselves and for the loved ones.
Present Progress
Of the people that inspire you, what character traits do they have which you admire?
The most inspirational leaders I have seen are those that are smart, humble and they operate with high integrity. They are able to build trust and inspire their teams to go the extra mile.
If you were to be a mentor to someone within your profession, what one piece of advice would you give?
Focus on your strengths and believe in yourself
What is your personal mantra?
To accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
Future Progress
What advice would you give aspiring women in your industry?
Ask for it! I have realised over the years women are far less demanding in the work place. They are negotiating less on their packages and having fewer demands when it comes to promotions and developmental opportunities. They need to be confident about their contribution and more proactive in managing their careers.
