As the business continues to evolve, our client is looking for an experienced people leader to strengthen leadership capability across their club estate and ensure their people strategy directly supports business performance. This role will play a key part in driving engagement, improving leadership effectiveness, shaping employee relations strategy and helping leaders navigate a fast-paced and ever-changing operating environment.

About the Role

This is a highly visible and influential role that combines strategic HR partnering, employee relations expertise and leadership coaching. Leading a small team, you’ll work closely with senior operational leaders to create high-performing clubs, enhance the employee experience and deliver sustainable business results. You’ll use data, insight and strong stakeholder relationships to identify opportunities, address challenges and help shape a people-first culture that supports growth and performance across the organisation. Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior operational leaders to improve people performance, engagement and leadership effectiveness across multiple club locations.
  • Act as a trusted adviser and coach to leaders, providing guidance, challenge and support on complex people matters.
  • Lead the organisation’s employee relations agenda, ensuring a commercially balanced, culturally aligned and legally compliant approach. [
  • Oversee and support complex employee relations cases, providing expert advice while managing organisational risk.
  • Use people metrics and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating insights into meaningful actions.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to improve retention, engagement, leadership capability and overall club performance.
  • Support key people initiatives including succession planning, organisational change, employee engagement programmes and performance management processes.
  • Lead the evolution of people policies, procedures and governance frameworks to ensure they remain effective and compliant.
  • Partner with People Operations and wider HR teams to improve processes, enhance service delivery and increase self-service capability through digital tools.
  • Build management capability through coaching, training and practical support, helping leaders confidently manage real-world people challenges. [
  • Identify capability gaps and work with relevant stakeholders to implement development solutions that strengthen leadership effectiveness.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to senior leadership teams, ensuring people decisions are informed by data and aligned to business priorities.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a people-focused, operational environment and enjoys building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll be someone who is equally comfortable coaching senior leaders, managing complex employee relations matters and using data to influence decision-making. With a pragmatic and commercial mindset, you’ll know how to balance business objectives with creating a positive employee experience and strong organisational culture.

Requirements

  • Significant experience within HR Business Partnering, Employee Relations and HR Advisory roles.
  • Previous experience leading or managing a team.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Proven ability to coach, influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Experience using people data and insights to drive decision-making and improve business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success developing leadership capability within multi-site, customer-facing or operational environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at executive level.
  • Commercially minded with strong judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about creating high-performing teams and delivering an outstanding employee experience
