About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Global Payroll to lead the development and ongoing management of a scalable, compliant global payroll function.

This role offers the opportunity to design and operate a modern global payroll landscape, including systems, processes, and governance models that support employees across multiple countries. The Director will play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence in a complex, international environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep expertise in payroll operations, payroll technology, and cross-border compliance. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to deliver a seamless, reliable payroll experience while driving continuous improvement and standardization.

You will lead and develop a high-performing payroll team and serve as a trusted subject-matter expert across payroll, compliance, and systems.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of a global payroll operating model across multiple countries
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and Technology teams to align payroll processes with enterprise systems and business workflows
  • Establish global payroll governance, policies, controls, and standard operating procedures
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing payroll team with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee payroll vendors and service providers, ensuring strong performance, controls, and service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll, tax, and statutory requirements in each country of operation
  • Maintain strong internal controls in partnership with Finance, Legal, and Audit stakeholders
  • Support accurate payroll funding, accounting, and reporting processes
  • Drive process standardization and scalability to support organizational change and geographic expansion
  • Provide payroll leadership and expertise for organizational changes, system transitions, and new entity setup

What You Will Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership of large-scale, multi-country payroll operations
  • Proven success implementing or transforming global payroll systems and operating models
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise HCM and payroll platforms, including third-party payroll integrations
  • Strong knowledge of international payroll compliance, taxation, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and manage change effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across HR, Finance, and Technology functions
  • Experience managing external vendors and outsourced payroll service models
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a solutions-oriented mindset
