About the Role
The VP of Global Payroll will lead the strategy, governance, and execution of payroll operations across all international regions. This executive will oversee end‑to‑end global payroll processes, ensure compliance in multiple jurisdictions, and drive operational excellence through technology, automation, and scalable frameworks. This role partners closely with Finance, HR, Legal, and regional leadership to deliver a world‑class payroll experience for a global workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the global payroll strategy, operations, and governance across all countries where the company operates.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing global payroll team, including regional leaders and outsourced partners.
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing for multi‑country populations, ensuring compliance with local, federal, and international regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and process optimization.
- Serve as the executive owner of Workday Payroll and related integrations, partnering with HRIS and IT to enhance system performance and reporting.
- Establish and monitor global payroll KPIs, SLAs, and internal controls.
- Partner with Finance on payroll budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with HR and Total Rewards on compensation cycles, equity transactions, and global mobility.
- Lead vendor management for payroll providers, tax agencies, and compliance partners.
- Ensure readiness for audits, regulatory reviews, and internal risk assessments.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including at least 7 years managing global payroll operations.
- Deep expertise in global payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multi‑country payroll frameworks.
- Strong proficiency with Workday, including payroll configuration, integrations, and reporting.
- Proven experience leading and developing large, geographically dispersed teams.
- Demonstrated success implementing scalable processes, automation, and technology‑driven improvements.
- Strong financial acumen and experience partnering with Finance, HR, and Legal at the executive level.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and change‑leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth, matrixed environment.
