HR Operations & Process Improvement Consultant
About the Opportunity
A global organization is seeking an experienced HR Operations & Process Improvement Consultant to conduct an independent assessment of HR processes across its North American workforce. The organization is experiencing ongoing operational challenges and is looking beyond individual performance to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of its HR processes and service delivery model.
This is a hands-on consulting engagement focused on identifying root causes, documenting current-state processes, assessing operational effectiveness, and providing practical recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Map and document end-to-end HR processes across multiple functional areas, including employee lifecycle, payroll, benefits, compliance, and shared services activities
* Develop and standardize process documentation, SOPs, controls, and governance frameworks
* Evaluate current workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, duplication of effort, and compliance risks
* Assess execution capability, role clarity, and operational effectiveness within the HR function
* Analyze work distribution and operating model design to determine opportunities for centralization, automation, or shared services support
* Conduct stakeholder interviews and facilitate process discovery sessions
* Apply continuous improvement methodologies to identify sustainable operational enhancements
* Develop actionable recommendations, implementation roadmaps, and future-state process designs
* Present findings and recommendations to senior HR and business leaders
Required Experience
* 7+ years of experience in HR Operations, Shared Services, HR Transformation, HR Consulting, or related functions
* Demonstrated success documenting and redesigning HR processes in complex organizations
* Strong knowledge of HR operations, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, employee data management, and service delivery models
* Experience conducting operational assessments, audits, or process improvement initiatives
* Ability to quickly assess current-state environments and translate observations into practical recommendations
* Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills
* Strong analytical, documentation, and project management capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
* Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, or similar certification
* Experience supporting large-scale HR transformation initiatives
* Background in global or multi-state HR operations
* Familiarity with HRIS platforms, workflow automation, and shared services environments
* Consulting experience preferred
