Job Description:

  • Lead the payroll team by offering direction, coaching, and ongoing performance support.
  • Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for all employee groups, ensuring payments are issued accurately and on schedule.
  • Ensure payroll operations comply with all federal, state, and local laws, including proper handling of taxes and deductions.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs such as timekeeping records, compensation updates, benefit deductions, and other changes.
  • Maintain precise payroll documentation and safeguard data accuracy within the payroll system.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and other groups to troubleshoot payroll concerns and respond to employee questions.
  • Perform audits on payroll transactions and records to verify accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Compile and deliver payroll reports for leadership and departmental use.
  • Stay informed on payroll regulations, tax rules, and industry trends to continually enhance payroll workflows.
  • Manage tax and payroll compliance for foreign nationals, including individuals with unique taxation requirements.
  • Administer Glacier, ensuring proper setup, maintenance, treaty application, residency evaluations, and documentation collection.
  • Oversee year‑end and periodic foreign national tax filings and reporting, such as Forms 1042 and 1042‑S, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Contribute to creating, updating, and implementing payroll procedures and operational guidelines.
  • Additional essential duties for the role will be reviewed during the interview process.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related area preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible payroll experience, including at least three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, compliance standards, and best operational practices.
  • Advanced experience with payroll systems (e.g., Workday, UKG) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Outstanding accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Solid analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication abilities and a collaborative, professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrates initiative in developing expertise that extends beyond the team’s current responsibilities.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential is a plus.
  • Experience with multi‑state and international payroll practices is preferred.
  • This role is primarily on‑site, requiring at least four days per week on campus, with one remote day permitted depending on business needs.
