Compensation Lead
About the Role
The Compensation Lead will serve as a key member of the HR and Total Rewards function, responsible for designing, analyzing, and operationalizing compensation programs across the firm. This role is ideal for someone with a strong financial and analytical foundation-particularly from FP&A-who can translate complex data into actionable insights and partner seamlessly with Legal, HR, and business leaders. You’ll help shape compensation strategy in a high‑performance investment environment, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with firm objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Compensation Strategy & Analysis
- Lead the design, modeling, and evaluation of compensation programs, including base salary, annual incentives, and long‑term incentive structures.
- Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analytics to support pay decisions and program enhancements.
- Build and maintain advanced financial models to assess compensation scenarios, cost impacts, and forecasting needs.
HRIS & Process Optimization
- Leverage the firm’s HRIS to streamline compensation workflows, improve data integrity, and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to automate and modernize compensation processes.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
- Work closely with Legal on offer letters, employment agreements, compensation‑related contract language, and regulatory considerations.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and business leaders to support compensation planning cycles and talent decisions.
Compensation Operations
- Lead annual compensation cycles, including merit, bonus, and promotion processes.
- Maintain compensation structures, job architecture, and internal equity frameworks.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in compensation, FP&A, or a similarly analytical finance role.
- Direct experience in investment management or broader financial services required.
- Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel proficiency (complex formulas, modeling, scenario analysis).
- Experience working with HRIS platforms (Workday, UKG, ADP, or similar) to drive process improvements.
- Exposure to carried interest or private‑equity‑style long‑term incentive programs strongly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to partner effectively with Legal, HR, and senior business stakeholders.
- High level of discretion and comfort working with sensitive compensation data.
