Compensation Associate
Role Overview
The Compensation Associate supports the design, analysis, and administration of the company’s global compensation programs, including base pay, bonuses, and equity compensation. This role plays a key part in ensuring competitive, equitable, and compliant pay practices while delivering a high-quality employee experience.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in both cash and equity-based compensation in a fast-moving, data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation Program Support
- Assist in the administration of base salary, incentive, and bonus programs
- Support annual compensation cycles (merit increases, promotions, bonus planning)
- Conduct benchmarking using market data to ensure competitive pay positioning
- Prepare compensation analyses and modeling (e.g., compa-ratios, range penetration)
Equity Compensation
- Support the administration of equity programs, including stock options, RSUs, and ESPP (if applicable)
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and external vendors (e.g., equity platforms like Carta, E*TRADE, or Shareworks) to manage grants and vesting schedules
- Track equity grants, vesting, exercises, and terminations
- Assist with equity award processing for new hires, promotions, and refresh grants
- Help prepare employee communications and education materials related to equity compensation
- Ensure compliance with global equity regulations, tax implications, and reporting requirements
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Maintain compensation data integrity within HRIS and equity systems
- Generate reports and dashboards for HR and leadership (e.g., pay equity, internal parity, comp trends)
- Analyze compensation data to identify trends, gaps, and recommendations
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compensation practices align with company policies and applicable laws
- Support audits and documentation for internal and external reviews
- Maintain job architecture, salary ranges, and compensation guidelines
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Finance on compensation-related requests
- Support offer creation with competitive compensation packages including equity recommendations
- Respond to employee inquiries related to compensation and equity programs
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 2-5 years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, finance, or related field
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel (modeling, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Basic understanding of compensation principles and structures
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
Preferred
- Exposure to equity compensation (stock options, RSUs, ESPP)
- Experience with HRIS (e.g., Workday) and equity management platforms (e.g., Carta, Shareworks)
- Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools (e.g., Radford, Mercer, Pave)
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business, or related field
