A leading university in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Rewards to join its Human Resources leadership team. This is a strategic role that will shape how the university attracts, motivates, and retains world-class academic and professional talent.

About the Role

The Head of Rewards will serve as the institution’s expert on compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring that the university remains competitive in the global higher education market. You will lead the design, implementation, and governance of reward frameworks that align with institutional priorities, talent needs, and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive rewards strategy covering compensation, benefits, performance incentives, job evaluation, and recognition programmes.
  • Oversee annual compensation review cycles and ensure robust governance, transparency, and equity across all reward practices.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and data-driven analysis to inform reward decisions and ensure competitiveness both locally and internationally.
  • Partner with senior academic and administrative leaders to provide expert advice on remuneration for critical and senior roles.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reward policies, systems, and processes, including digital enablement.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants, regulatory bodies, and benefits providers.
  • Lead and develop a specialist team to deliver high-quality reward advisory and operations.

About You

You will thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Extensive experience in compensation and benefits, preferably within complex, knowledge-driven, or public sector environments.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Deep knowledge of reward governance, job grading methodologies, and market benchmarking.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and build strong partnerships.
  • A strategic mindset, combined with the ability to deliver operational excellence.
  • Experience within higher education or large public institutions is advantageous but not required.
