We are delighted to be partnering with a leading global law firm with a strong presence in Australia, including offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. This role sits with a high-performing HR team supporting a dynamic and collaborative workplace culture.

About the Role

This is a broad HR generalist role based in Sydney (or Melbourne), reporting to the HR Manager for Australia. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day HR operations and contribute to national and state-based HR projects. The role covers a wide range of HR functions including recruitment, learning and development, performance evaluation, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and WHS compliance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing the implementation of firm-wide HR policies and procedures.
  • Providing guidance to leadership on local HR laws and compliance.
  • Supporting L&D initiatives including CLE/CPD tracking and training program development.
  • Assisting with remuneration, benefits, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Driving staff engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Supporting recruitment efforts including graduate and law school programs.
  • Assisting with WHS compliance and psychological safety programs.
  • Managing HR reporting, performance management, and grievance handling.
  • Liaising with payroll on leave and pay queries.
  • Representing HR on internal committees and working groups.

About You

This role is ideal for a confident, proactive and experienced HR professional. Previous tenure in a law firm or professional services environment is essential. You’ll bring strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in HR operations and project coordination.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.

This is a permanent full-time role, though candidates seeking a 4-day week will also be considered. The target salary is $140,000 – $155,000 + Super based on experience.
