Senior Benefit Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Administration & Open Enrollment
- Lead the planning and execution of annual open enrollment, including system setup, employee communications, and coordination with vendors.
- Evaluate benefit offerings and recommend enhancements aligned with employee needs and market trends.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of benefit elections, changes, and terminations.
Employee Support & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, leave policies, and wellness programs.
- Design and distribute clear, engaging benefit communications including guides, FAQs, and intranet content.
- Conduct benefit orientation sessions for new hires and ongoing education for existing employees.
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and COBRA.
- Maintain and update benefit policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and company standards.
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to manage audits and reporting obligations.
Leave of Absence Management
- Oversee administration of all leave programs including FMLA, parental leave, disability, and personal leaves.
- Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate pay and benefit continuation during leaves.
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave eligibility and processes.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage relationships with benefit providers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Lead contract negotiations and renewals to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
- Monitor vendor performance and resolve service issues as needed.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and service-oriented team culture.
Wellness & Engagement Initiatives
- Develop and implement wellness programs that promote employee health, engagement, and productivity.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver wellness campaigns, challenges, and resources.
HR Operations Oversight
- Oversee core HR processes including data management, reporting, and HRIS administration.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within HR operations.
- Ensure data integrity and confidentiality across all HR systems and records.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- 4-7 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on benefits, compliance, and operations.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
