Head of People & Development

Reporting to the People Director, you will be responsible for delivering the people strategy and ensuring the effective operation of the People function across a multi-business professional services environment or circa 300 people.

You will play a key role in supporting business leaders, driving organisational effectiveness, developing people capability and embedding people practices that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the People & Development function (8 People).
• Provide leadership across HR, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development activities.
• Deliver and implement people initiatives that support organisational objectives.
• Partner with senior leaders to drive engagement, performance and cultural development.
• Coach, develop and support members of the People team.
• Act as an escalation point for complex employee relations matters.
• Lead change management initiatives and support organisational transformation.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and support functions.
• Ensure people policies, processes and practices are effective, compliant and commercially focused.

About You

We are seeking an individual who combines strong people leadership with commercial awareness and the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.

You are likely to possess:

• Team leadership experience within a commercial environment – 3 people upwards
• Experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary people teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Proven change management capability.
• A pragmatic and commercially focused approach to HR.
• High levels of emotional intelligence and resilience.
• The confidence to challenge, influence and support senior leaders.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills.

Experience within professional services, consulting, legal, financial services or similarly knowledge-based businesses would be advantageous.
